The guilt of feeling like you're a bad mom means you are a good mom. I love this sentiment, especially for new parents. I cringe when I remember how awful I felt leaving my son alone crying in his crib those first few times, just to take a shower! And the guilt doesn't stop when they get older either- it just changes to feeling guilty about other things.
That's why it feels so good to get together with other parents and laugh about this new life stage. If you don't have a strong local support system of parents with kids around your child's age, go find them! If you have a baby, some good first places to start are neighbors, coworkers, baby story time at your local library, the neighborhood park, baby sign language or music classes, or the semi-normal looking parent at your coffee shop or daycare.
